COME, darkness, spread o'er Heav'n thy pall

此日課聖詩用於9月15日 聖母七苦，晚禱。

中文 (Chinese)

1. 幽暗速降遮蔽諸天，日頭驚惶無光；
   我眾追憶慘痛苦難，如此神聖悲傷。
2. 聖母侍立滿面淚痕，懷著如鐵心志；
   親聞吾主呻吟悲泣，親感其身痛傷。
3. 聖子在你面前受釘，遍體鞭傷撕裂；
   血汙創口敞開猙獰，神形俱已耗竭。
4. 你見聖容受盡羞辱，煎熬痛苦乾渴；
   苦膽長槍浸醋海綿，刺入你心深處。
5. 妳卻巍然莊嚴侍立，承受此般景象；
   超越殉道烈士事蹟，遠超死亡之痛。
6. 讚頌歸於三一上帝，懇求賜我力量；
   效法聖母光耀榜樣，哀子仍舊堅強。阿們。

1. Iam toto subitus vesper eat polo,
   Et sol attonitum præcipitet diem,
   Dum sævæ recolo ludibrium necis,
   Divinamque catastrophen.
2. Spectatrix aderas supplicio parens,
   Malis uda, gerens cor adamantinum:
   Natus funerea pendulus in cruce
   Altos dum gemitus dabat.
3. Pendens ante oculos Natus, atrocibus
   Sectus verberibus, Natus hiantibus
   Fossus vulneribus, quot penetrantibus

1. COME, darkness, spread o'er Heav'n thy pall,
   Cease, frighted sun, to shine:
   While we that bitter death recall,
   That tragedy divine.
2. And thou, with tearful cheek, wast there;
   But with a heart of steel,
   Mary, thou didst his moanings hear,
   And all his torments feel.
3. He hung before thee crucified;
   His flesh with scourges rent;
   His bloody gashes gaping wide;
   His strength and spirit spent.
4. Thou his dishonoured countenance,
   And racking thirst, didst see;
   By turns the gall, the sponge, the lance,
   Were agony to thee.
5. Yet still erect in majesty,
   Thou didst the sight sustain;
   Oh, more than Martyr! not to die
   Amid such cruèl pain!
6. Praise to the blessèd Three in One;
   O, may that strength be mine,
   Which, sorrowing o'er her only Son,
   Did in the Virgin shine! Amen.
